Pre-School Gymnastics

ROGA’s Pre-School Classes

Whatever your child’s goals are, gymnastics will give them lifelong skills that go beyond the gym!  Foundational gymnastics at a young age prepares kids for ALL sports and helps to foster life-long positive fitness habits.  Benefits include: mental focus, social skills (sharing, taking turns, listening, friendships), balance, strength, flexibility, coordination, body awareness, positive self esteem, and perceptual motor skills.  Activities include body shaping, fundamental movements, early tumbling, low bar, floor beam, strength and flexibility work, and trampoline.

Parent + Me

This 60-minute class is a semi-structured, coach led and parent guided introduction to basic gymnastics skills for the toddler who is not yet ready to work independently with a coach.  A parent or other trusted adult must accompany the child to every class.  Little athletes will have fun developing fundamentals while making friends, learning to listen and follow directions, learning to separate from parents, and learning to take turns.  No prior gymnastics experience necessary!

Pre-School, Beginner

This 60-minute class is an introduction to basic gymnastics skills for preschool aged children.  No prior gymnastics experience necessary.  Classes will start with a 10-15 minute warm-up and stretch and then work through different stations.  As the session and the athletes progress, the stations will be modified, but repetition of fundamentals while having fun is the key to Preschool gymnastics.  At each station, little athletes will try a skill multiple times before moving on, sometimes with the hands-on assistance of a coach and other times under a watchful eye, teaching persistence, repetition, and good listening skills.

Some of the skills they will learn include:

  • Vault: How to jump on the springboard with 2 feet, straight/tuck/straddle jumps, soft/safe “stuck” landings.
  • Bars: Monkey flip, front support, swings/casts, chin holds, pull-overs.
  • Beam: Walking different directions, jumping, kicking.
  • Floor: Forward and backward rolls, handstands, cartwheels.
  • Tramp: Seat drops, jump and “freeze,” straight/tuck/straddle jumps, half-turns, table tops.

Pre-School, Advanced

This 60-minute class is the 2nd level in our pre-school program, building on the basic introductory skills from the Beginners class.  A child with prior gymnastics experience who is age 4-5 or who has graduated from our Preschool Beginners class would be an excellent fit in this class.  Classes will start with a 10-15 minute warm-up and stretch and then work through different stations.  As the session and the athletes progress, the stations will be modified, but repetition of fundamentals while having fun is the key to Preschool gymnastics.

The Preschool Advanced skills are similar to the Preschool Beginners skills, but in the Advanced class the athletes will be working on better technique, improved strength and flexibility, and improved amplitude.  At each station, athletes will try a skill multiple times before moving on, sometimes with the hands-on assistance of a coach and other times under a watchful eye, teaching persistence, repetition, and good listening skills.

Some of the skills they will learn include:

  • Vault: How to jump on the springboard with 2 feet, straight/tuck/straddle jumps, soft/safe “stuck” landings.
  • Bars: Monkey flip, front support, swings/casts, chin holds, pull-overs.
  • Beam: Walking different directions, releve, turns, jumping over objects, kicking.
  • Floor: Forward and backward rolls, kick up to handstands with improved shoulder strength and shapes, cartwheels with straight legs to lunge.
  • Tramp: Seat drops, jump and “freeze,” straight/tuck/straddle jumps, half and full turns, table tops, jump combinations.

The ROGA Difference

New 22,000 sq ft facility with standard Olympic apparatuses.

Coaches are dedicated to each athlete as an individual and use creativity in a structured path for success. Coaches use a combination of modern and innovative techniques focused on form, shapes, strength, biomechanics, proven progressions and flexibility.

Preschoolers use equipment specially designed for children under 100 lbs. Kids will be able to get a feel for traditional gymnastics apparatuses in a safe, age-appropriate environment. In addition, we use toys and tools such as scarves, rhythm sticks, frisbees and hula hoops that make class fun and engaging for younger students!
